Venezuela: U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Admits Defeat!

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Admits Defeat!

From CNN, February 24, 2019:

“Jake Tapper: […it seems as though Maduro’s not going anywhere near this [U.S.] plan, that he’s holding onto power, and the military seems to be staying with him, at least the military leaders.

SECRETARY POMPEO: It always seems that way until the day it doesn’t. I remember when I was a young soldier patrolling the then-East German border. No one predicted it on that day in 1989 that that wall would come crumbling down. Predictions are difficult. Picking exact days are difficult. I am confident that the Venezuelan people will ensure that Maduro’s days are numbered.”

From Montreal, I proudly say congratulations to the Venezuelan people, the Bolivarian armed forces and the civil-military union!

A Victory for the Bolivarian Revolution.

It is a defeat for the US Empire and those who call out the Maduro government as being “authoritarian,” a “dictatorship” and having been elected on a “dubious” basis or illegally.

It is this very “authoritarian” civil-military union that defended Venezuelan democracy and sovereignty.

However, the fight is not over for those of us, all over the world, who support Nicolás Maduro as the only legally-elected president and oppose all US interference whether through “humanitarian aid” or more overt military intervention.

Tomorrow Monday February 25, the Lima Group is meeting to plan new actions. The US will be there and so will one of its main allies, Canada, whom Pompeo praised three times in the above-cited interview.
